Over the Garden Fence: Online bids accepted for Rotary Auctionfest

You are too late to attend the actual Rotary Auctionfest event at the Trillium Event Center, 1650 E. Southern Ave., April 9. Caterers needed the attendance numbers March 31. Never fear. You can still take part and be a supporter through a bidding site.

With Castle Auctions' expertise and a measure of generosity, the committee photographs and descriptions were brought together in living color on the website.

From now until 4 p.m. April 7, you may view, select and make bids online. That highest pre-bid becomes a starting point at the actual auction. If your online bid is the winner, you will be notified April 11 when payment and pick-up can be arranged.

Here come the bir:Over the Garden Fence: Spring has come and it's time for birds to migrate

When  Bucyrus Rotary Club chooses a 501c3 partner every year, the other organization becomes involved in every aspect of the auction. This year the Bucyrus Backpack Program has jumped in feet first ordering T-shirts with the group's logo on the front and back. They will be easily identified.

They have worked hand in hand securing auction items, locating workers for the division of labor, and staying focused. The day of the event there will be setting up chores that will include the display of auction items, centerpieces, signs, seating people at their tables, holding up items if asked, and that clean-up time afterward.

Bucyrus' Backpack Program assembles meals for children who face nutrition uncertainty through weekends. The packs include two meals each for breakfast, lunch and dinner with three additional snacks.

This is currently managed for over 400 children in Bucyrus and county schools, including Colonel Crawford, Wynford, Buckeye Central, Crestline, St. Joseph's in Crestline, and the CCBDD of Fairway Preschool. Twenty volunteers put together units Wednesday so they are ready on Fridays. A projected budget is around $90,000 for 2022-2023.

The committees from both partners work with incredible ambition to insure success. The Rotarians hold a portion of the Auctionfest funds for local and international commitments then present the balance to the other partner helping to insure that the good work continues.

The Bucyrus Backpack Program team operates from the concept that nutrition delivers a powerful thrust to learners at a most formulative time. You are needed to applaud the effort by going online and pre-bidding.

To test the ease, just Google Rotary Auctionfest Bucyrus, Ohio, which brings site access. Once there an envelope in a blue band offers an "i" click for details (bidding procedures), a gavel to click on "register" to take part in bidding, and then a ledger with the word "catalog."

Vsit and view the over 250 items. There are many beautiful wooden practical and decorative things, fun units designed for entertainment, framed art, athletic jackets, a few quilts, season passes, gift cards, dinner vouchers, several themed backpacks, jewelry, monthly bread and roses, and more.

Just think about all the contributions Rotary brings to our local world and sends around the world. By partnering with the Backpack Program, the members multiply goodness locally really giving a "pat on the back" to those visionaries who know contented tummies bring improved listening and learning.
